
Adding a cantilever travel axis to the 7-axis design extends the effective working range to about 3.5 m and enables butt joints on square tube/channel steel and channel lap joints in addition to fillet welds, suiting bridge deck units and ship sub-assemblies.
The 8-axis cantilever welding robot adds a traverse axis on the cantilever beam of the 7-axis design: the robot mounting point can move laterally along the beam, and combined with longitudinal rail travel it forms a large working envelope in both directions.
Compared with the 7-axis model it covers a much larger area without frequently moving or turning the workpiece, making it especially suitable for large plate assemblies, ship sections and large construction-machinery components. It carries the teach-free welding system and vision sensor for automatic seam finding and autonomous decisions on welding parameters and paths.
